We are also committed in Switzerland. Even though poverty in Switzerland, one of the world's richest countries, is often not immediately visible and remains a taboo topic, it exist here as well. In 2021, 8.2% of the population—more than 700,000 people—lived below the poverty line (Source: Amnesty International Magazine, June 2024). The COVID-19 pandemic shed light on some aspects of this reality in Switzerland, further exacerbating financial difficulties for parts of the population, especially retirees and single parents.

In 2024, S&D was asked to support a single mother in furnishing her new home and her child's new room. Due to the sale and renovation of their previous house, she and her child had to move out. With strong family support, they were able to find affordable housing in the same urban neighborhood after a long search and many rejections—despite the housing shortage—allowing the child to remain in the same area and school. S&D strength and dignity helped develop an interior concept with cost-effective solutions for the child's room so that their new home could provide security and comfort in line with the principles of "strength and dignity," easing their move and fresh start.
